Why..? You might ask... What's with the beard......... There are a couple of reasons for this: According to local traditions here in Tabanan, Bali, when a woman becomes prenant, her man is not allowed to hurt anything. He is not allowed to kill chickens for dinner or harm any animal in any way, though removing Mosquitoes seems to be sanctioned for purposes of matrimonial longevity... :D So the idea is that the man doesn't carry or use sharp things for this duration. He is not allowed to hurt anything or use sharp instruments because this culture honors the subtle energy connections between man and woman especially In the process of making a baby. Ok here it is... Is that it's a clear signal to other women that the man is in hairy question is already taken so they should not set their sites on him. All the hair is like a "FAMILY IN PROCESS" label. I must admit that it's quite uncomfortable to have so much facial hair, yet liberating just the same.
